Converging on the music studio scenes in Jamaica, was not an easy feat creating music for himself. “I could not gain serious traction,” Rasta Blacspade revealed.” His break came when he arrived in Kingston and was invited to the studios by première reggae icons Luciano, Al Campbell, Steele and Cleavee. There, he flourished and retrieve more interest. The multi-talented artiste was so versatile and amazing in the studios that he gained deserving respects by all who heard him. The mic and music truly, was his to explored. Reflecting, he articulated that has a youngster, entertainment was about fun and has he got older he realized the embarkment could be a career part. Thus, at the ripe age of 20 years, he began to write music.
Nestled in the United States by 2000, Rasta Blacspade quickly setup and continued his business in Mechanics, fixing cars and through it all kept up his promotions of parties and dancehall shows, as well as write and sing; simultaneously establishing himself has a reggae artiste.
By 2012, the prolific artiste found himself with a hit single on the international world stage… “Heart Nuh Leap,” released on the Traveling Man Riddim. “I was excited when I first heard it and proud of myself. It meant I made a song and people like and was listening to it,” he said. An established Reggae Artiste he was now prominent.
6/2023, The popular artiste released of “Rasta Live,” rewarded and achieved him traction for which he appreciated and enjoyed. It earned him respectful rotations on the international playlist, as well as in the Caribbean. The single was produced by the Thug Chemist Label. He quickly followed up with “Irawma,” a song Rasta Blacspade released specifically, for the International Irawma 40th Anniversary Music Awards Show, in Jamaica, May 7, 2023; where he was a featured artiste. The song was chosen second runner up out of one thousand participants. An undertaking not likely to be forgotten and one he was most proud of.
Building on the momentum Rasta Blacspade, who also can split the mic with hip-hop, leaped forward with a cream, dropping “Love Over All Things,” a song bounded to please, November 2023. Incrementally thereafter, he engaged with “Bless & Highly Favored.” Both singles produced by the Thug Chemist Label. “I have not toured yet I am looking forward to that,” verified the skilled and adept artiste.
Conversely, the astute musician further commented, “I am not a Producer or have I ever compiled my own music. I only write and sing my own music. What drives and keep I focus is the music and the work.” The work motivates I and the music drives I. Music is my hobby, it’s my passion. I love doing dancehall songs and get the chance, I & I, do hip-hop. Rasta Blacspade and Wade Douglas, are two totally different people. Rasta Blacspade is all about the entertainment world and Wade Douglas keep I grounded, that’s family. “I love being Rasta Blacspade,” articulated the artiste.
“In five years, I would like to be known musically on a global scale. Rasta Blacspade is just Rasta Blacspade. I am a people person, nothing bothers me. I take life one day at a time. I love to watch sports no matter what kind of sports it is. I also like to chill more time and enjoy life, a moment to reflect. Nothing in life is guaranteed but everything on this earth is for us. One love that is our policy. One love is the order. It’s a public world, it has nothing to hide,” Rast Blacspade said pellucidly.
